If you are installing a custom web application or manually migrating a website, you will need to set up a database. Follow these steps to create one:
Step 1: Open the Database Management tool
- Log in to your DirectAdmin panel.
- Navigate to the Account Manager section and click on MySQL Management.
Step 2: Create the Database and User
- Click on the Create New Database button in the top right corner.
- Database Name: Type a name for your database (the system will automatically add your prefix, e.g.,
username_dbname). - Database User: Create a user for this database. You can check the "Same as database name" box to keep them identical and avoid confusion.
- Password: Click the random password generator icon to create a strong password, then click copy. Make sure to save this password in a safe place.
- Click the Create Database button.
Step 3: Accessing phpMyAdmin
- Once created, you can manage your database tables, import
.sqlfiles, or make edits by clicking the phpMyAdmin link on the right side of your MySQL Management screen.
